About Us
What becomes of human discretion in a world increasingly governed by automation? Which incentives truly drive the development of AI, and whose interests do they serve? What ideologies are embedded in the design of technologies presented as ‘value-free’?
These are some of the questions we seek to confront.
Encode London is a UK-based branch of a global AI governance network. Dedicated to supporting the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies, we bring together students, early-career researchers and young professionals to foster interdisciplinary collaboration on pressing issues in corporate and compute AI governance.
As we enter this era of co-evolution, it is a collective imperative to demand foresight in innovation, safeguarding in application, and critical reflection upon the fragile ecologies - cultural, political and environmental - within which AI is emerging. At Encode London, we work through policy, advocacy, research and education to inform and empower diverse youth voices. Ultimately, we are all stakeholders in this unfolding future - it is vital to step forward as active agents in the trajectory it takes.

Educational Outreach
At Encode London, we are passionate about engaging young people in critical conversations about AI. We welcome opportunities to collaborate with secondary schools and sixth forms, offering:
-
Talks that introduce key ideas in AI ethics and governance in a clear, accessible format.
-
Interactive workshops and debates designed to spark discussion and creative problem solving around the future of technology.
Whether you’re looking to enrich a classroom session, run an assembly, or organise a themed event, we’d be delighted to work with you. Together, we can inspire students not just to understand AI, but to actively shape the conversations and decisions that surround it.
